MassDOT station workshop: Somerville stations
Saturday, June 12, 10-3 pm
Argenziano School Cafetorium
290 Washington St (map)
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is hosting a series of land use planning workshops associated with the Green Line Extension Project. After an overview presentation about the Green Line Extension project, participants will have a chance to share knowledge about their neighborhoods and to express their priorities and concerns about future land uses around the station areas. These workshops will focus on areas around the planned stations, while future workshops will focus on the stations themselves.
This meeting format will be a combined SomerVision and Green Line Extension Project Open House. Activities will focus on public ideas for the areas around future Green Line stations in Somerville and feedback on Somerville’s visioning and comprehensive planning process.
Attending the Open House will give you an opportunity to review and give your thoughts and insights on:
- Draft Vision Statement produced from the Visioning sessions (world cafe) held in December and January.
- Draft Goal Statements prepared for Neighborhoods; Transportation & Infrastructure; Housing; Commercial Corridors, Squares and Growth Districts; and Educational, Environmental, and Cultural Resources.
- Orange Line Station planned for Assembly Square
- Station design and land use around future Green Line Stations
At different times during the day, there will be a presentation and focused discussion on different Green Line Stations and the maintenance facility. You will have an opportunity to review MassDOT’s proposed design, learn a bit about the surrounding neighborhood and give your ideas on the station design and environs. The schedule for the discussion is:
10:30am – 11:15am – – Union Square
11:15am – 11:45pm – – Gilman Square
11:45am – 12:15pm – – Lowell Street
12:15pm – 12:45pm – – Ball Square
12:45pm – 1:30pm – – Washington Street / Brickbottom
1:30pm – 2:00pm – – Route 16
2:00pm – 2:45pm – – Maintenance Facility
2:45pm – 3:00pm – – Wrap-Up
Although the workshops will focus on the station areas identified here, we will be happy to take comments on other station areas as well.
