**Save the Date and Volunteer Request**
Somerville Public Schools Food Services is planning several special things for our city’s part in this national event.
They will be serving a healthy and nutritious lunch for students including roasted chicken, corn bread, local roasted butternut squash and local apples. Additionally, all elementary schools will be treated to a special taste test at lunchtime that day – students will be able to bite into a variety of local apples, compare and contrast the color, crunch, and flavor of fresh, Massachusetts-grown apples, and of course vote of their favorite one!
In order to pull off taste tests as so many site, we need your help! Volunteers avaliable from apx. 10:30am-1pm on Monday October 24th are needed to manage the apple taste tests.
Volunteers will be set up with food and equipment, have enough adult hands to manage the event and generally feel comfortable running the apple taste test. Taste tests are always a lot of fun and the students have tons of interesting comments that they are not afraid to share, especially when they have the chance to vote on their favorite food during the event!
