Bike to the Sea, Inc.
Groundwork Somerville is managing the construction of a section of the Northern Strand Community Trail in Malden and Everett. When complete, the trail will extend all the way to the beaches of Lynn and Revere. As Project Manager, GWS works closely with the Conservation Commission in Everett, the new Mass in Motion project Energize Everett, local and regional community groups, and area businesses. Several community events will take place around this project in 2010, to celebrate construction and to build community. Hundreds of volunteers will help with the project, developing a renewed appreciation of the benefits of our urban environment. In addition to creating a bike path extension, GWS will also assist in planting up to 20 trees in Everett.
