National Park Preservers

A green job training corps for five-ten 18-24 year-old Somerville youth, the National Park Preservers are based at the Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, MA.  The team works with master craftspeople learning all aspects of renovating historical buildings, and landscapes with the expectation that they will work in the field after completing the program.  Throughout 2010, one team of the NPP will renovate an historic barn and house while a second team will rehabilitate fields to their historical states.  Additionally, once a week the team returns to Somerville to participate in community service on projects that fulfill Groundwork’s mission by assisting local non-profits, building green infrastructure in the community, and promoting green living and sustainable community development.
