Invasives on the Mystic
In partnership with the Mystic River Watershed Association and the Friends of the Mystic River, Groundwork Somerville will begin an extensive water chestnut and water lily removal program on the Mystic River in 2010. This project, slated to take 5-12 years to complete, will utilize massive community volunteer efforts as well as concerted help from an AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team during the summer. Through the next three years, GWS will hire young adults to learn the intricacies of this important green job.

Mystic River Green Team 2010 Application
We are a group of students from Prospect Hill Academy that created this podcast for Ground Work Somerville. This podcast was created to give out information that a lot of people wouldn’t know about the Mystic River. Throughout this podcast we are following two students, Laurie and Rodney, as they spend their day at the river. You get to hear about the route they took to get there, what they do over there and the habitat around the river. We hope that you take our advice and visit one day.
