Summer Library Workshop Series: Central Branch, 7/18

July 18, 2013 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Groundwork Somerville is offering a series of three FREE library workshops for kids at the Somerville Public Library branches this summer.  Each workshop fits into the nationwide 2013 Collaborative Summer Library Program theme: Dig into Reading!

The first workshop, Dig into…Worms!, will take place at the Central Library at 79 Highland Ave on Thursday, July 18th from 11 am to noon.  In this fun, hands-on workshop, kids can learn all about worms and soil.   They’ll explore what worms eat and don’t eat, how they make soil richer, and how they move around underground.  We’ll observe and feed some real red wiggler worms, then read from Diary of a Worm and create our own worm diary entries.

Recommended for kids ages 5-7; workshops are all free and led by Groundwork Somerville Gardens Coordinator, Lee Dwyer.  Thanks to the Friends of the Somerville Public Library for generously funding this workshop series!
