Maple Syrup Skill Share

January 29, 2011 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Every winter, Groundwork Somerville and our partners at the Community Growing Center, the Somerville Public Schools, and Tufts University tap local maple trees and collect the sap. Simultaneously, GWS staff and community volunteers teach a four-week arts and science curriculum to second graders at the Somerville Public Schools and the library. The season culminates with a spectacular two-day boil-down event held at the Somerville Community Growing Center.

Come visit our skill-share table this Saturday at the Winter Farmer’s Market to learn about how and when we tap trees, what fun activities we do in the classrooms, how we turn sap into syrup during the Boil Down Festival, and how you can get involved!
