Garden Youth Crew applications are available online and due Friday, June 10th

Attention 7th and 8th graders (or parents/guardians/teachers)!: In the summer after seventh or eighth grade, interns in Groundwork Somerville’s Garden Youth Crew spend six weeks learning about science and the environment.  They grow, maintain, and harvest produce in either the Winter Hill Community School or the Edgerly Education Center gardens for two to three hours each Tuesday and Thursday.  In addition, the crew members will have the opportunity to perform community service at a local organic farm, create a value added product and staff GWS’s booth at the Union Square Farmer’s market.  Upon completion of the program, crew members receive a $50 stipend to acknowledge their contribution to the community.  This is a great way to spend time outside, gaining leadership and work experience, giving back to your community, and earning money.
