Drying Herbs & Making Tea

Check out the highlights planned for this week’s free garden workshop!

– Portuguese and Spanish-speaking Somerville middle school students will teach participants about herbal teas important in their native countries

– Blind smell-test of common herbs

– Hands-on practice harvesting herb leaves and flowers

– Samples of Somerville-grown and brewed herbal tea

Event Details: Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 from 5:30-7:00pm at the Argenziano School Garden at 290 Washington St  (garden around back)

Tai Dinnan, Arielle Maldonado, & GWS Garden Youth Crew will lead this fun and interactive workshop. Do you have herbs in your yard that you never eat? Do you miss herbs and teas from your native country? Come learn how to grow and dry herbs and make tea! If you eat local produce, why not drink local tea??

    this sounds like a fun engaging idea for Boston Local Food Festival. I don’t think we have anyone speaking about herbs or native species growing at that time in our yards that we can eat…
