Earth Day/ Arbor Day Celebration in the Boston Globe!
Plant trees, donate bikes with Groundwork Somerville
The following was submitted by Groundwork Somerville:
When: Saturday, April 30, 2011, 9am-3pm
Where: Blessing of the Bay Boathouse, 32 Shore Drive, Somerville, MA
What: Groundwork Somerville is teaming up with Bikes Not Bombs and the Boston Tree Party to plant trees and collect used bicycles! Join us at the Mystic River to donate your used bike to teens in Groundwork Somerville’s summer youth program and Bikes Not Bombs’ youth program in Boston and stick around to plant a tree with the Boston Tree Party.
Your bike might even be shipped around the world to sustainable development projects that partner with Bikes Not Bombs. So get down in the basement, dust off that old bicycle, find your gardening gloves, and come out to the Mystic River to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day. Who knows, you might find yourself picking apples beside the river in Somerville or see your bike rolling down the street here in Koforidua, Ghana! All bike sizes and vintages needed!
After you donate your bike, stick around the Mystic for a spring cleanup, heirloom apple tree planting with the Boston Tree Party, and the City’s SomerGreen festival!
